Anime Review: Uta no Prince Sama 1000% Maji Love

That is one long title over there. Fear not my salamanders. Like all Japanese anime's with long names this one has it's own abbreviation too: UtaPri(Uta-Puri as the Japanese slang goes). Think how Katekyo Hitman Reborn is fondly referred to as KHR by fans.

Story concept is relatively simple. This is a reverse harem harem. Ha! Now I'll let you go through your brain and scan all the stereotypes a reverse-anime might encompass.


This anime is truly unique because a) heroine is not a helpless dimwit who needs rescuing 24-7, b) heroine actually has a fantastic personality, c) like Marginal Prince(which by the way the quality of the anime was truly marginal, see what I did there?), this is a musical anime that features really catchy J-Pop songs sung by really talented seiyuu's. It's the kind I would have on my handphone(I am very picky about my songs, really).

Saotome Academy is a performing arts school run by an eccentric but demonically talented principal who is said to be a legend among singers. His team of teachers are comprised of a prolific action star and a pop superstar singer who is noted for his cross dressing styles. Now that I think of it, there are only these 2 people as teachers...that aside, moving along.
The school is divided into Idol Classes and Composition Classes. Idol tsudent classes are the singers/dancers/actors and Composition classes are students who make lyrics, melody, scripts and choreography for the Idols. You could say the Idol and Composition classes work together to produce a masterpiece of a song. Those 6 bishounen you see at the top? They're considered the school's 'shining stars'. Also because we don't care about other irrelevant characters with normal black hair brown eyes we shall bask in the awesomeness of this boys with impossible eye color and equally ridiculous hair color. Not complaining, but still.


Nanami Haruka pretty much spends the first few episodes meeting her own harem(albeit oblivious to it) and share a special bond with each of them. It is up to the audience discretion to decipher if they really like her as a talented composer or they do have a romantic interest in her.

Seiyuu: Miyuki Sawahiro


The object of everyone's affection, Nanami is a shy, clever girl who's always bringing out her full potential to be a better composer. Ever since meeting upon a chance an Idol by the name Hayato, she was determined since then on to compose songs only for him i.e she wants to write a song for him and have the honor of him singing her songs because she was so enchanted by his smooth clear cut voice. When her graduation exam ensues, she was to choose a partner from the Idol class. She was left with quite a dilemma when ALL SIX of them listed her as their preferred partner. Not wanting to hurt anyone, she chose all six and wrote a group song that enticed the eccentric principal himself, so much so that he decided these six boys would make a debut as a boy band who would go by the name of ST☆RISH.

Seiyuu: Mamoru Miyano

A gifted singer with a beautiful voice(look at the voice actor, is this any surprise?) but has a reputation of being a frivilous airhead as Hayato. His Tokiya persona is a lot more stable. He entered Saotome Academy disguised as a twin brother but is eventually found out and pissed of many people, especially his nakama(the other bishounen's). He lives to sing, without it he

goes crazy. Even his intention of joining the academy was solely to sing wholeheartedly. He and Nanami are implied to be the official couple.

Seiyuu: Takuma Terashima

A childlike, cheerful and friendly young man. He is also one of the contenders for Nanami's 'affection'. Out of the 6 boys, he is the only one who's mentally stable and seem to have a level head on his shoulders. Seriously, he barely gets into trouble. He helps out and keeps the boys together in unity and peace - like the stronghold for a pillar. Very sweet and sociable, this is the guy you want as a best friend and boyfriend.

Seiyuu: Hiro Shimono

A pint-sized metrosexual young man who's very much into hats. Has a grumpy mood. Can be very selfish and a little bit of a show-off. Apparently he's prettier than a girl when he's dolled-up in a dress. People are always poking fun of his height but everyone has a soft spot for him. He has a great respect for Hyuuga-sensei whom I mentioned earlier to be a famous action hero and have a great desire to act alongside him.

~*Jinguji Ren*~

Seiyuu: Junichi Suwabe

A tall, elegant and beautiful young man you can say is the 'romeo' of the school. He often says cheesy pick-up lines that almost all insipid girls in the school fall for with the exception of Nanami, of course. He has a dark side that he represses about his traumatic childhood and almost gave up on music. Nanami manages to cajole him by promising to write a song that would him proud to sing it. He's an excellent Saxophone player.

Seiyuu: Kenichi Suzumura

A stoic and serious young man who is the heir to a traditional Japanese family. Nurtured since young that his appearance and personality match that of a powerful conglomerate heir, he strives to use music as a way to express his repressed emotions. He offers some wise advice for Nanami and always lends an ear when she's needs someone to talk to. He is childhood friends with Jinguji Ren.

Seiyuu: Kisho Taniyama

A playful, nerdy bespectacled young man who seems to have a split personality. Dear God just dont remove his glasses! He likes cute stuff like soft toys and baking cakes(which are always disastrous but his friends are too polite to say anything). He is said to be a genius when it comes to making songs. His violent and temperamental Satsuki persona might have been repressed as a defense mechanism as we do get a glimpse of his childhood enduring over-bearing parents.

Seiyuu: Kousuke Toriumi

A cursed prince of a long-forgotten kingdom appeared in Nanami's dream one night ushering her to 'do the right thing'. His attire resembles that of Indian/Middle-Eastern culture and his dark complexion further clarifies so. (Oh, please his name is CECIL! Obviously he's not Japanese). He is implied to make a more notable appearance later in the anime. I CAN'T WAIT.

Seiyuu: Koji Yusa

A tall teacher who is also a famous action star. He seem to be well liked by his students. He and the principal share a secret that might just involve Nanami and her ST☆RISH entourage.

~*Tsukimiya Ringo*~

Seiyuu: Yuichi Nakamura

Note: THIS IS A MAN, DO NOT BE DECEIVED. He is a popular singer who is noted for his trademark cross-dressing as a way to make an impression on his fans. He comes off as an airhead but beneath those long pink tresses, lies a conniving and scheming bastard.

Originality: 10/10. Instead of having the usual normal high school girl with very little intelligence, we have a story about a bunch of kids trying to break out as celebrities. Like, how cool is that?

Plot: 8/10. It does have it's mundane moments but it promises to keep you hooked nonetheless.

Artwork: 9/10. Clear cut coloring and drawing, it's artistic definition is impeccable. There aren't many animes out there that portrays characters with accurate body proportions.

Overall: 7/10. Some parts gets a little boring and predictable.

AWAS Ini adalah sangat menakutkan, serupa dengan kes Ms Canny Ong. Pada suatu hari, terdapat seorang wanita yang berhenti di stesen minyak untuk mengisi minyak. Setelah selesai memenuhkan tangki minyak selepas membayar menggunakan kad kredit di pam dan ingin meninggalkan stesen tersebut, atendan di dalam kedai lantas bercakap menerusi speaker dan memberitahu sesuatu yang berlaku dengan kad itu dan meminta wanita itu masuk ke dalam untuk membayar tunai.

Wanita itu keliru kerana dia telah selesai mengisi minyak dan pembayaran menggunakan kad kredit telah diluluskan. Dia menunjukkan isyarat tangan kepada atendan tersebut dan bersiap sedia untuk meninggalkan tetapi atendan tersebut sekali lagi menggesa wanita tersebut masuk ke dalam kaunter kedai untuk membayar tunai. Dengan perasaan sedikit marah, wanita itu terus masuk ke dalam kedai dan mempertikaikan tindakan petugas tersebut dan menuduh dia menipu. Atendan tersebut memberitahu supaya wanita itu bertenang dan mendengar dengan teliti. Atendan memberitahu ketika wanita tersebut sedang mengisi minyak, dia telah melihat seorang lelaki telah masuk ke dlm kereta dan bersembunyi dikerusi belakang .

Dengan segera beliau telah menghubungi pihak polis. Wanita tersebut terus menjadi takut dan segera melihat pintu keretanya terbuka dan lelaki itu telah menyusup keluar dan meninggalkan kereta itu dengan tergesa-gesa. Kes baru-baru ini didapati mempunyai kaitan dengan ujian untuk permulaan geng jenayah terbaru dimana memerlukan seseorang untuk membawa balik bahagian badan seorang wanita ..

Salah satu cara yang mereka lakukan adalah dengan merangkak perlahan-lahan dan menyusup masuk ke dalam kereta wanita manakala sasaran utamanya adalah stesen minyak atau di kedai runcit pada waktu malam. Kemudian, mereka akan potong kaki / buku lali mangsa menculik mereka dan kemudiannya membunuh dan mencerai-beraikan mereka. Kaedah lain adalah dengan memaksa wanita itu masuk ke dalam kereta kemudian menculik mereka,

Sila sebarkan ini kepada wanita lain, orang muda dan tua. Pertama, wanita seharusnya lebih berhati-hati apabila ingin masuk ke dalam kereta pada waktu malam. Kedua, Jangan letakkan kereta di tempat sunyi atau terpencil semata-mata ingin mendapatkan tempat letak kereta percuma! Ketiga, Jika boleh, elakkan memandu seorang diri pada waktu malam! SUNGAI SIPUT: Seorang pelajar perempuan berusia 16 tahun bertindak menggantung diri sebagai hadiah hari jadi buat bekas teman lelakinya dalam satu kejadian di Taman Tun Sambanthan, di sini, pagi semalam.
Lima minit sebelum mengambil keputusan menggantung diri, mangsa dikenali L Valarmathi yang juga pelajar Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Dato’ Haji Abdul Wahab itu menghantar khidmat pesanan ringkas (SMS) kepada bekas teman lelakinya itu.
Difahamkan, mangsa baru putus cinta dengan teman lelakinya itu yang juga pelajar tingkatan empat sebuah sekolah lain bertindak demikian kerana mengalami tekanan perasaan. Dalam kejadian kira-kira jam 11.30 pagi, Valarmathi ditemui maut apabila menggantung diri pada kipas di dalam biliknya menggunakan sehelai kain sari.
Mayat mangsa ditemui ibubapanya yang bergegas pulang ke rumah selepas mendapat panggilan daripada bekas teman lelaki anaknya yang memaklumkan mengenai SMS yang mengejutkan itu.
Bapa mangsa, M Lingam, 46, ketika ditemui di Bilik Forensik Hospital Sungai Siput semalam berkata, dia mendapat panggilan daripada bekas teman lelaki anaknya itu sebelum bergegas pulang bersama isteri ke rumah.
Beliau berkata, sebaik tiba di rumah, dia cuba memanggil anaknya yang berada di dalam bilik, namun tidak berjawab sebelum menendang pintu bilik berkenaan.
“Saya terkejut mendapati badan Valarmathi tergantung pada kipas dengan leher dililit sehelai kain sari dan muka kebiruan.
“Ketika kejadian, Valarmathi keseorangan di rumah, manakala saya dan isteri keluar bekerja selain anak yang lain bersekolah,” katanya.
Sementara itu, Ketua Polis Daerah Sungai Siput, Superintendan Azman Salim ketika dihubungi berkata, mangsa bertindak membunuh diri dipercayai kerana mengalami masalah peribadi dan tekanan perasaan.
Katanya, kejadian itu disedari bapa mangsa yang pulang ke rumah kira-kira jam 11.30 pagi sebelum menemui mangsa sudah tidak bernyawa.
“Mangsa tidak ke sekolah pada hari kejadian. Mayat mangsa dihantar ke Hospital Sungai Siput untuk bedah siasat dan punca kejadian masih disiasat. Kes ini boleh diklasifikasikan sebagai mati mengejut,” katanya.

For those of you who don't speak English, this is about a 16 year old girl named Valarmathi who hung herself after a bitter break-up with her boyfriend of the same age. Due to extreme emotional stress and depression, she choose to hung herself as his birthday present. Before committing the act, she sent a text message of her intent to her ex. Her ex then alerted the girl's father who was too late when he reached home only to find her hanging from the ceiling fan. Her father further explained that no one was at home because both he and his wife were out working and the rest of the children were at school. Her case have been classified as a sudden death.

Now this is what I hate to see the most in the newspaper. A news about an Indian girl hanging herself due to love failure. This is so Tamil Drama, man. This is just ridiculous on every level imaginable. Stupid, really. As if he's the only one with a dick in this whole wide world. People like her are one of the contributing factors Indian people get ridiculed from all directions. Listen up girls. If you have a friend whom you know or at least suspect having depression that could lead to suicide, please tell their close member to keep an eye on them. There is no worse guilt than knowing that you knew someone's problem all along and having done nothing to help them before it's too late.

That was my poor attempt at trying to sound French but anyway.

So...I have been primping myself lately a lot...to think I am not even the vain type. Trust me I'm not. 


So these are the few products that really got me addicted. I fell in love with them in fact.

1. Montagne Jeunesse Masks Selection

I first found these beauties when I randomly one day woke up, looked at my skin and thought 'No amount of facewash would fix this mishmash of a face. This is a job for *insert dramatic music here* FACE MASKS!!' After class that fateful day, I went to Watson's and practically fell in love with the selection of Montagne Jeunesse masks. Just from the packaging I just knew this can do miracles. I bought Chocolate Mask and tried it that night and BOY, was the experience just heavenly! It took all of me not to eat the smooth pasty, creamy chocolate mask. I smeared it on my face and the smell, OH GOSH! I was definitely in heavens at that moment. Sadly, this is their most popular mask and ALWAYS run out before I get to them. Confounded women wont leave some for me. Hmph. Anyhoo, I did try their other selection and found each new masks that I try to be equally heavenly. I mean, this is too good to be true! I give this 10/10 for truly working for my skin and actually made my skin softer and radiant as they promised.

2. Yardley's Lavender Hair Cream

This beauty here is TEH SHITZ. If you have natural curls and can't seem to find a hair product that keeps your curls and frizz in place, this is the one you should be looking for. Very creamy and soft to the hands, it smells like, well...lavender. Imagine if you have long flowing tresses...you apply a generous amount on our hair and let loose it. Walk on a windy day and see how many dudes turn their heads just by that fleeting moment of the sweet lavender smell wafting from your hair. Don't be surprised if you have your own entourage of guys following you at the end of the day.

3. Watson's Hair Wax

Very sorry the pic is blurry. I couldn't find a better pic of this. You see, after conditioning your hair, wear this mask and leave it for 10 minutes. Then rinse leaving a small trace if it behind and gently dry your hair. If you have stubborn curls you would see after using this your curls would twirl naturally and bounce.

This is a product from India. It contains all natural herbs. This cream makes a great night moisturizer. If you have dull/dry skin. Wear this to sleep. Perfect for oily/combination skin. The turmeric and sandalwood essence are calming and helps to lull you to sleep. 

7. Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Oil

As the title says. Do you have stubborn acne prone skin and that one confounded zit that refuse to disappear? This is your answer. Kinda pricey but worth it. Unlike other Tea Tree Oils out there, this one actually isn't sticky and oily. In fact, just a few drips absorbs on your face naturally with it's natural scent. Great with makeup.

8. Biore Marshmallow Face Whip

Now, I stumbled upon this on another blog and I instantly got me interested. Too bad I haven't seen this product in Malaysia yet I am most interested in it's collagen enriched ingredient. I really need some help in getting to look younger because at 21 years of age...people think I am married with kids. That's not good news at all.

Alkisah Haiwan-Haiwan Peliharaan Saya.

Keluarga saya ini memang pencinta haiwan. Kami sangat sukakan haiwan tak kira haiwan itu mempunyai kecacatan atau sempurna badan. Dulu sebelum kami menjemput anjing pertama saya di rumah pada tahun 1997, kami banyak memberi makan kepada anjing dan kucing jalanan.

Pastu pada tahun 1996, keluarga kami menjumpai seekor kucing jantan yang amatlah cantik. Bulunya putih dan gebu, matanya biru dek langit, ekornya panjang dan tebal. Kami namakannya Niki. Niki ni memang hensem, gentlemen lagi. Dia sangat manja dengan kami. Makan minum tiada hal sebab apa yang kami bagi dia makan. Tidur pun dia pandai - sebuah kotak yang disediakan khas untuk dia di living room. Memang best bela dia, obedient dan pandai. Namun, risiko membela kucing cantik memang tinggi, Tak habis-habis jiran belakang rumah cuba curi Niki.

Satu hari yang malang, memang betul Niki dicuri. Kami tau memang jiran yang laknat itu punya kerja. Dengan  kerasnya mereka menafikan mereka tak curi Niki. Kami tahu, diorang kunci Niki dalam bilik setiap hari supaya kami tak terserempak dengan Niki,

Kami pun tau, jiran laknat tu tak jaga makan minum dia. Akibat nih, Niki mati dalam kesedihan hati. Beberapa bulan kemudian, seorang lagi jiran beritahu kami yang kemungkinan Niki didera sampai mati sebab dia mogok. Yelah, bukan keluarga dia, camne dia percaya orang-orang laknat tuh?

Kami sedih berbulan. Selepas itu, kami jumpa seekor anjing baka kacukan Greyhound betina yang bernama Kiki. Kiki ni selalu lari dari rumahnya sebab didera teruk oleh keluarganya. Kami telah minta supaya bagi saja Kiki kepada kami sebab ternyata Kiki tidak gembira di rumah mereka. Orang laknat yang kedua nih bermatian refuse. Kalo tak sayang anjing tuh bagilah kepada yang sanggup menyayanginya, betul tak?
Akhirnya, Kiki mati dilanggar lori ketika dia escape dari rumahnya ingin datang ke rumah kami. Orang laknat yang sama nih juga ada bela seekor anjing jantan yang bernama BenBen. BenBen mati sampai didera oleh anak lelaki bodoh keluarga tuh. Matanya dikorek sebab budak bodoh tuh main kasar ngan anjing baka kacukan Pekingese tuh.
Malang, kami tak boleh selamatkan BenBen jugak. BenBen ni pendiam dan pasif so dia senang dibuli.

Malang tidak berbau, Kiki ni anjing yang baik, manja dan obedient. Nakal dan hyper tapi she was a beautiful dog. Nasib dia, tersekat dengan orang yang tidak bertanggung jawab. Mudah-mudahan Kiki dan BenBen ni sekarang bergembira di syurga.

Setelah itu kami membeli seekor anjing jantan baka Miniature Pinscher tulen. Nama dia Roy. Roy nih...memang hensem tiada tandingan.

Inilah satu-satunya gambar Roy yang ada pada kami. Diambil pada tahun 1997. Roy suka makan daging lembu dan susu. Dia suka tidur di bawah sofa dan bermain lompat di padang. Pendiam tapi guard dog yang baik. Kisah Roy ni...dia kena curi oleh manusia laknat yang tidak bertanggungjawab. Kami tak dapat jumpa dia dan hanya boleh berharap  kepada Tuhan agar Roy tidak menderita di rumah kidnappernya. Umurnya baru 11 bulan ketika kami kehilangannya.

Di sini masuk pulak Juwie. Anjing baka Miniature Pinscher betina yang half sister kepada Roy(ibu sama, ayah lain). Warna dia karamel susu dan bermata perang muda. Sangat comel. Orang-orang yang menziarahi rumah selalu puji kecantikan Juwie nih. Nak tau pasal Juwie, dia nih kuat makan, teramatlah nakal, berani dan betenaga. Namun Tuhan lebih menyayangi Juwie karena pada suatu malam yang malang dan memilukan memori satu keluarga kami, Juwie telah dipatuk ular Cobra yang tersesat dari dusun di hadapan rumah kami. Panik bukan main satu keluarga kami. Dalam perjalanan ke klinik haiwan, Juwie telah meninggal dunia kerana racun telah merasuk jantungnya. Air mata bercucuran bak hujan, hati sedih dan luluh sebab Juwie baru sahaja anak anjing berumur 5 bulan, masih menyusu. Rasa macam kami telah menderhaka padanya. Kakak dan ibu menyalahi diri mereka kerana biarkan Juwie di halaman rumah kami pada waktu malam. Yang sedihnya, kami tiada gambar Juwie sebagai memo kenangan.

Tak tahan kesedihan kami selama 2 bulan kami berdukacita dengan kematian Juwie. Akan tetapi, pada pagi Sabtu yang cerah, doktor haiwan menelefon kami. Katanya, ada seekor lagi anak anjing betina baka kacukan Miniature Pinscher dan Chihuahua. Adakah kami ingin membelinya? Kami setuju tanpa berfikir panjang.

Inilah dia, Tiffany. Heavily photoshopped to avoid mata-mata durjana. Dengan berkat Tuhan, Tiffany telah hidup bersama kami selama 12 tahun, sejak 1999! She's a big part of my childhood because when we first welcomed her to the house, I was 9 years old. I am now 21. See? You look at this dog, you're looking at the best bit of my life.
Tiffany ni perfect. Berani, gagah, baik hati, mendengar cakap, pandai behave di rumah orang lain, pendiam kecuali dirangsang, budi pekerti yang baik(seumur hidupnya dia tidak pernah mengigit orang), pandai membaca emosi orang rumahnya. Satu-satu kekurangannya adalah Tiffany ni fussy. Makan minum mesti berkualiti kalo tak mesti tak nak makan. Tempat tidur mesti lembut dan berada di tempat yang tinggi dan biskut anjingnya hanya 1 brand nih. Nasib baik makanan dan snek kegemarannya senang diperolehi kalo tak habis Madam ni mogok lapar jadi kurus macam kanak-kanak Somalia. Other than that, Tiffany senang dijaga. Madam ni boleh dibawa dalam kereta, dia tak mabuk, malahan dia menyukai car rides. Asal kereta bergerak jer, dia mesti tidur nyenyak. Haa...kalau kalian nak tahu Tiffany ni adik Juwie(ayah dan ibu yang sama). Dengan memelihara Tiffany,kami berharap Juwie pun menerima berkat dan kasih sayang kami yang diajukan kepada Tiffany.

Dengan berkat Tuhan, kami berharap Tiffany dikurniakan hidup yang senang dan gembira. Jikalau ajalnya tiba, saya hanya meminta Tuhan meredakan perjalanannya ke syurga tanpa sakit apa pun.
